Chicks Dig Scrawny White Guys

So I stumbled across a blog post from my remote buddy Sean Tierney, and caught a snippet about some woman he bumped in to at TechCrunch who was apparently jumping in to photos in a shameless attempt at self-promotion (which has apparently worked, although in an infamous context). This is interesting to me because of the number of times I've referenced Paul Graham's observations in his book "Hackers and Painters" regarding the ultimate rise of geeks to popularity and stardom in a technology-centric culture.

A few links later and it turns out she's some nameless columnist for Time Out New York who is writing about how geeks make the best lovers. Of course, the most amusing part of this little diatribe is this video of Ms. Allison explaining the reason for her trip to the West Coast, during the last several seconds of which she and her friend claim that the nerds they're interested in "have to be smart." Based upon the impression she gives of herself in this video, I can only see her being successful in her quest if her would-be suiters don't have the same criteria for their female companionship.

If you dig this post's title, buy the t-shirt.
